Cheney School

The requirement at this Academy in Oxford was for a covered area adjacent to the school’s Tuck Shop where students could queue for their snacks and then eat outside the school buildings in all weathers.

The proposal was for a WeatherSpan modular free-standing canopy as the adjacent Tuck Shop is a modular building that would not have supported a lean-to canopy. The roof is an apex, covering an area of 54 square metres. Rainwater drains through concealed gutters to adjacent downpipes on the school buildings.

WeatherSpan’s modular aluminium construction is maintenance free and was very competitively priced compared to a steel frame structure covering the same area. A lead time of just 3 weeks from placing the order meant that the school were able to benefit from their investment just as the winter weather set in.
