Seaford College

Located in the scenic South Downs National Park, Seaford College comprises of a Prep School, Senior School and Sixth Form ranging from Year One to Year 12.

With an emphasis on creating a happy and friendly schooling environment that promotes success through world class facilities, Seaford College helps students push boundaries to reach their potential.

The Requirement

To align with their ethos of having world class facilities on site, Seaford College contacted us to design, supply and install a range of canopies to provide outdoor learning and socialising opportunities.

As two of the canopies were to be installed outside a classroom and dining area, both also required blinds to be fitted as an accessory to provide additional control over glare and solar gain.

Our Solution

For their classroom area, we installed our WeatherSpan® Lean-to Canopy, comprising of a single profiled polycarbonate roof and an aluminium frame.

Measuring 24m x 2m, the L-shaped canopy was also fitted with our WeatherSpan® External Canopy Blinds in a zipped side channel for additional weather protection to North-West and South-West elevations.

For the nearby walkway canopy, our Lean-to system was used but a different shape was required. Here a 2.5m projection met with a 3.5m projection to form a asymmetric V-shape to accommodate for the differing building heights either side of the covered walkway. The length measured 24m and was supported by 110mm square extruded aluminium posts.

The al-fresco dining area at the front of the Sixth Form Centre required a canopy similar in style to the first; our WeatherSpan® Lean-to with external blinds for additional shelter. Slightly smaller in length, the 11m x 4.7m shelter extends the dining space overlooking the incredible sporting facilities Seaford College has to offer.

Finally, the Prep School required our WeatherSpan® Free-standing Mono-Pitch Canopy to provide shading for a section of the playground area.

For consistency across all systems, the canopies were manufactured in anthracite grey with integral gutters and downpipes.

The first of our installations for Seaford College came back in 2020, with our latest installed earlier this year.
