Case Studies
Katherine Warrington School
Katherine Warrington School opened its doors to 180 Year 7 students in 2019 with a vision of helping pupils fulfil their potential.
Based in Harpenden, the secondary school prides itself on not only creating an exceptional learning environment for students, but also a facility that can help to benefit the local community.
The Requirement
With that in mind, KWS approached us to design and install two canopies on their site to provide shelter for an entrance walkway and cover for an external dining area outside their main hall.
Our Solution
Firstly, following our free on site survey to discuss the initial ideas, we installed our WeatherSpan® Free-standing Saddle Canopy for the entrance, 9m in length and 4.5m wide, with a polycarbonate roof consisting of 16mm multi-wall sheets.
The width was expertly measured to fit between the two walls either side of the walkway, ensuring the canopy provided maximum shelter from the elements.
Although weather protection was of paramount importance for the second canopy as well, our WeatherSpan® Lean-to Canopy proved to be the best option in this scenario.
Measuring just short of 25m in width with a 6m projection, and the same polycarbonate roof as the saddle, the canopy allowed for 13 wooden dining tables to be placed underneath, creating a comfortable and weatherproof dining area and freeing up space inside.
Both canopies were manufactured with integral gutters and downpipes to create a sleek finish, with rain water discharged subtly onto the ground at the bottom of the posts.
The Installation
The project ran incredibly smoothly during the summer holidays and both canopies were installed snag free, ensuring there was no disruption on site and to the school during term time.
With summer fast approaching this year, our installation teams are already booking up fast for school canopy installations, so contact us now to book your free on site no-obligation survey!
